´╗┐Adidas is wooing Manchester United with Adidas offered Manchester United more than $US100 million ($106 million) a year to supply the team's apparel, a bid that led its rival Nike to end contract renewal talks with the record 20 time English soccer champion, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. Nike and United couldn't reach an agreement after more than a year of exclusive talks, allowing the club that claims to have more than 650 million worldwide followers to open negotiations with other suppliers of soccer gear. "Any partnership with a club or federation has to be mutually beneficial," Nike said in a statement. "The terms that were on offer for a renewed contract did not represent good value for Nike's shareholders." The terms offered by Adidas are more nike internship than double the 150 million pounds ($273 million) Puma agreed in January to pay United's rival Arsenal over five years, a record for soccer. Nike declined to match the bid from Adidas, which it had the right to do under its 13 year contract, said the person, who was granted anonymity because the talks are confidential. The existing deal is worth a minimum of 303 million pounds to United. Manchester United spokesman Philip Townsend declined to discuss any potential deal with Adidas, saying "we will only comment on this process when it is complete." Adidas, the world's biggest make of soccer goods, said in a statement it doesn't comment on "rumors and speculation." Nike's decision to drop United is surprising, said Tim Crow, chief executive officer of London based sponsorship consultancy Synergy. "In sports there are brands that you want to have and those that you don't," Crow said in a telephone interview. "Manchester United is a must have." Adidas's offer comes after United's worst season in two decades. The Red Devils finished seventh in the Premier League, a year after winning the title during Alex Ferguson's last campaign as coach. Ferguson's successor, David Moyes, was fired before the end of the season and will be replaced by Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal after the World Cup. The team's play may have contributed to Nike's decision to end its relationship with the club, Crow said. "United is going into a period of uncertainty but they have built an enormous fan base that isn't going to desert them anytime soon," he said. "Wherever you go nike 2 year return policy in the world you see Manchester United nike 3.0 flyknit shirts. That's very powerful.".
